The Buona Stampa Stationery: the big "small"

Why so many visitors all over the world are choosing Italy and above all our Umbria to spend their holidays?
When we ask about it, the most of them answer that they were looking for something quite, relaxing, thousend miles far away from traffic-jam, tasty, rich in beauty and that warms your heart...and above all... SMALL AND REAL!

Well, here in Todi there are a lot of these special places. One of this is the Bookshop-Stationery “Buona Stampa”.
The shop was founded at the end of the 19th century by Mr. Zenoni, who had also a typography in the district Santa Prassede.

Then the shop was sold to the Menghini family that still runs it: Giuseppe was owner since 1972, while his son Sergio replaced him in 1988. Until 1999 , when she died, also Sergio's mother, Mrs. Laura Latini, worked in the shop: I remember her very well, she was always very kind and lovely with all clients.

When I was a child I spent a lot of time in the shop...it was very difficult for me to choose which pen or pencil to buy because there were so many tipes of them! I also bought hundreds, or even thousends, of “figurines” to complete my albums! And what about the Uni Posca Colours? During highschool period, scribbling everywhere with Uni Posca was so in vogue!
Well, memories of my youth...

Now the shop is specialised with stationery items and romans (best sellers): beacuse of the great number of foreign visitors all over the world, in summer Sergio supplies the shop with romans in foreign languages, such as english, german and spanish.

He also sells ancient reproductions of Todi's map, which are much requested by foreign.

You can see that the shop inside is not very wide and also not very...tidy!
So Giuseppe and Sergio have just decided to “restore” the shop: from february 11th to february 14th  the stationery will be closed for a big restyling! The opening will be on february 18th.

I'll show you the new shop with photos, so stay tuned on todiguide's blog!

Bye!!! Elisa
